Marriage, Bridegroom, and Sweetheart Chapter 2s!

And I’m baaack!~ I think I’ll set the update schedule on Sundays EST. 🤔

The BL novel community has changed a lot since I was last here, I’m actually a bit shocked! How do people advertise new projects nowadays? On NU forums?

Speaking of NovelUpdates, I’ve had some 1 or 2 star ratings for all of these new projects (nice to know that hasn’t changed LOL…) 😂. If anyone has a NovelUpdates account and don’t mind rating early, I would really appreciate a rating to offset the trolls. //covers face//

Also, wanted to give a shoutout to attilde235 who left a wonderful review for Everyday, the Demon Lord is Escaping His Marriage! Thank you so much for your kind words, they really give me so much motivation (since it’s kind of lonely here 😂 //stares at the crickets chirping//)! In addition, one more thanks to Meng Hui Liu for all the coffee and Luc for updating the website server and fixing some site problems!

Without further ado, here’s this weeks’ chapters!

Everyday, the Demon Lord is Escaping His Marriage Chapter 2

Ghost Bridegroom Chapter 2

Former Sweetheart Chapter 2

  • hi, thank you so much for translating these novels! to answer your question about how people advertise new translation projects, people usually promote the novels on twitter these days, where most of the danmei fandom is. translators usually post a tweet for each new chapter they post, and they include the individual novel’s (and author’s) hashtag. most readers don’t use the NU forums, they just interact with translators and other readers on twitter (and discord).

if you did want to promote on twitter, I’d suggest following/interacting with other readers/translators there! so that they’re aware that you’re promoting your releases. I hope that helps! thanks again for all your translations!

    • Oh wow I didn’t know about this! I do have a twitter but I never tag anything for my tweets — do you recommend any tags other than the hashtag for the novel/author? Or uh, discords?

Thank you so much for the advice!

      • no problem! translators generally tag the novel name in chinese, but they also sometimes tag the english name, especially if it’s short. as for the author name, they also usually tag it both in chinese and in pinyin or english; for the latter, it depends on if the author’s name is better known to the readers by its form in pinyin or by an english translation – for example, 木苏里 is better known as Musuli, but 肉包不吃肉 is known simply as Meatbun.

translators don’t usually use other hashtags, but the tweets always include a direct link to the new chapter. some translators also include a quote from the chapter, or they have a set general (catchy or humorous) description for the novel that they include with each update. some other translators don’t have a quotation or description at all, it’s really up to you! if you want to see some examples, there’s @blackboxtl, @amy_translation, and @liehuojiaochou on twitter.

as for discord, I know that bigger translation groups have their own servers for readers to talk about the novels (for example, chicken gege at https://www.chickengege.org/ or chrysanthemum garden), but I know some individual translators have also set up their own small discord servers if there’s reader interest. for example, grim translations set up their own server and linked an open invitation on their blog: https://grimtranslations.home.blog/ it’s definitely uncommon for individual translators to have a reader discord like that though.

if you have any other questions, I’m happy to help! I joined the danmei fandom one year ago, and even in that time, it’s changed a lot haha, there are so many readers now, especially on twitter

        • Oh gosh thank you for this detailed explanation! It certainly gives me a better view on how things work now haha.

I’m so last season I barely recognize only one of the translators you mentioned 😂 We were so niche back then, but I’m happy to hear the community has grown!

Hm, I doubt any of my projects warrant a discord server so I think I’ll try out your hashtag method and see if it’ll work. I’ve been just including a link to the chapter releases on twitter (as it’s linked to the site and automatically tweets whenever there’s a new post). Fingers crossed since none of my current projects have big-name authors 😂

Once again, thank you so much for taking the time to write all of this! It really helps a lot!! 💞💞💞
